Education and Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

• Familiar with plant Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), generating license and service delivery requirements.

• Fair knowledge in coal power plant operation and maintenance, boiler / combustion performance monitoring & analysis.

• Fair knowledge in relevant law and statutory requirements for power plant operation.

• Proficient in utilizing performance analysis software/systems employed within TNB Genco

• Having a Professional Engineer and Certified Engineer (BEM) certification is an advantage.

* Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
* Good presentation skills, including preparing presentation slides contents.

* Must be able to understand business objectives and develop coordinated communications plans and/or initiatives to support those objectives.
* Must be an energetic self-starter who possesses leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills.
* Experience in Combustion Systems – A minimum of five years of experience in combustion engineering, particularly in coal-fired power plants, is required. Proven expertise in designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting coal combustion systems is essential.
* Knowledge of Combustion Technologies – Strong understanding of coal pulverization, burners, boilers, and air-fuel ratio control.
* Environmental Regulations Compliance – Experience with emissions control technologies, including selective catalytic reduction (SCR), electrostatic precipitators, and flue-gas desulfurization (FGD) systems.
* Thermal Efficiency Optimization – Experience in analyzing combustion efficiency and implementing improvements to reduce fuel consumption and enhance heat rate.
* Analytical Skills – Strong ability to interpret complex data from combustion analysis and emissions monitoring systems.
* Problem-Solving – Proven ability to resolve operational issues, including slagging, fouling, and imbalanced fuel flow.
* Communication Skills – Ability to effectively convey complex technical information to operations teams, management, and external regulators.

Accountability & Responsibility

• Drive the implementation of combustion health improvement initiatives.
• Continuously monitor and analyze combustion parameters through applicable online monitoring system to ensure high system reliability & efficiency.
• Optimize deployment of combustion monitoring system and enhance monitoring capabilities to provide excellent technical services.
• Provide accurate technical analysis and recommendations based on findings captured through applicable online monitoring system.
• Ensure important data are captured, verified, effectively maintained, analyzed, and translated into useful information.
• Implement strategic plans for the short, medium, and long term to support Division/Department business strategies.
• Develop program/algorithm to extract plant parameters from PI/GPMS for monitoring, analysis, and trending.
• Conduct due diligence and lead the deployment of online monitoring system which can enhance boiler combustion health monitoring capabilities to provide excellent technical services.
• Ensure completion of CAPEX projects at the highest quality within the designated timeline and budget. 
• Continuous engagement with station management and O&M personnel to ensure implementation of recommendations and high customer satisfaction with services provided. 
• Ensure high quality and timely submission of boiler health related reports to stations.
• Manage database and documents for effective decision-making and problem-solving.
• Maintain safe working environment, support HSE initiatives and comply with safety policies & procedures.
• Establish, maintain and review periodically elements of Genco Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001, ISO 37001, ISO 9001) and other management system standards based on roles and functions as and when required to meet the ISO standard requirements.
