Education and Knowledge

1.    Minimum a bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business administration, actuarial science, law or any relevant fields.
2.    Strong knowledge of the power generation industry and its associated risks.
3.    Strong knowledge of insurance principles and practices.
4.    Basic knowledge in plant operation and maintenance,
5.    Familiarity with relevant insurance regulations and compliance requirements is important.
6.    In-depth knowledge of different types of insurance products and its coverage is essential.
7.    Understanding the principles of risk assessment, pricing, and policy issuance is crucial for evaluating insurance proposals and making informed decisions.
 

Experience Requirements

1.    Minimum eight (8) years of working experience in commercial insurance for power generation industry or related fields.
2.    Prior experience in commercial insurance for an insurance company, a brokerage firm, or a risk management consultancy is highly desirable.
3.    Experience dealing with insurance optimization strategies, such as negotiating favorable terms, implementing risk management programs, or optimizing the insurance portfolio, is an advantage.
4.    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the power generation industry.
5.    Experience in managing end-to-end claim processes and dealing with various stakeholders. 

Accountability & Responsibility

Operational Insurance Management:
    Design, implement, and manage comprehensive insurance programs covering various risks (i.e. property damage, liability, business interruption, political risk).
    Managing, advising and overseeing procurement of operational insurance.
    Managing, advising and overseeing procurement of project insurance. 
    Managing, advising and overseeing the insurance broker agreement. 
    Analyze insurance premium data to identify patterns, areas for improvement, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
    Develop and implement strategies to optimize and reduce insurance premiums.
    Liaise with insurance brokers and underwriters to secure optimal coverage and competitive premiums.
    Review and ensure compliance with all insurance policies and related documentation.
    Assist in managing risk management survey and monitor closure of all risk recommendations for all power plants
    Developing and reviewing procurement of insurance guideline/procedure for GENCO  

Communication & Stakeholder Management:
    Support TNB Genco’s objective, business origination and enhance relationship building with insurance brokers/insurers/reinsurers.
    Consistent collaboration with insurance industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives.
    Consistent collaboration with relevant departments in ensuring the effective delivery of stakeholder engagement strategies/programs.
    Attend and participate in industry events and conferences to build strong professional networks, maintain proximity to relevant markets and represent TNB Genco.
    Prepare materials/presentations for discussions with TNB/TNB Genco and insurance brokers, relevant to their perceived needs in order to develop and implement appropriate insurance solution
Part D: Common Roles
    Ensuring Department / Unit activities comply with all relevant laws and statutory requirements, internal guidelines or procedures and industry best practices by staying up to date on legal requirements and implementing necessary control measures.
    Establish, maintain and review periodically elements of TNB GenCo Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001, ISO 27001, ISO 9001) and other management system standards based on roles and functions as and when required to meet the ISO standard requirements.
    Establish and maintain an organized document management system.
    Creating a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with all HSE requirements. Report any unsafe acts / unsafe conditions immediately via HSE e-wallet.
