Education and Knowledge

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology from universities recognised by the Government of Malaysia (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) / Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
  2. In-depth knowledge of system development life cycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
  3. Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, system integration, and IT/OT convergence requirements in power utilities.
  4. Knowledge of cloud-based architecture, containerization, and microservices frameworks.
  5. Familiarity with emerging technologies such as IoT, AI/ML, and clean technology applications in energy sector.

Experience Requirements

  1. 7–10 years of progressive experience in IT system development, including at least 3years in managerial or team leadership roles.Proven track record of deliveringenterprise-level software or digital platforms within large organizations, preferably inenergy, utilities, or industrial sectors. 
  2. Experience in managing cross-functional teams including front-end, back-end, andvisualization developers to deliver integrated solutions.Strong background in systemintegration, data pipelines, and cloud-native applications.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, contracts, and third-party solutionseffectively. Strategic thinker with ability to balance long-term vision with immediateoperational requirements.
  4. Strong leadership and coaching skills to inspire, motivate, and develop technicalteams.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to influencesenior leaders and cross-functional units.
  5. Highly adaptable, resilient under pressure, and solution-oriented in managingchallenges.Passionate about innovation, digital transformation, and supporting energytransition toward a sustainable future.

Accountability & Responsibility

General

  1. Lead the IT system development team, setting vision, direction, and priorities to support company-wide digital transformation and operational efficiency.
  2. Manage resources, timelines, and budgets for software development projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with corporate governance standards.
  3. Collaborate with executives, managers, and cross-functional units to identify opportunities for IT-driven improvements in operational processes and business systems.
  4. Ensure IT/OT systems are securely integrated, scalable, and reliable while maintaining regulatory compliance and cybersecurity best practices.
  5. Develop a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the IT development team to deliver high-impact business outcomes.

 

IT System Development

  1. Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise systems, web platforms, and applications critical to operations and corporate strategy.
  2. Define system development standards, frameworks, and methodologies to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with long-term technology architecture.
  3. Mentor and guide front-end, back-end, and visualization developers to maximize their contributions and build future technical leadership within the company.
  4. Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and tools to support modernization, scalability, and integration of digital platforms with legacy systems.
  5. Partner with data analytics teams to embed data-driven capabilities into applications, supporting decision-making and real-time business insights.

 

Key Deliverable

  1. Timely delivery of enterprise-grade IT systems that meet operational, regulatory, and business needs while supporting strategic plays like EBIT uplift and IPO readiness.
  2. Standardized system development processes that ensure quality, maintainability, and alignment with IT architecture.
  3. Secure and scalable applications with minimal downtime and strong disaster recovery readiness.
  4. Development team capability uplift through mentorship, knowledge transfer, and adoption of best practices in agile, DevOps, and system development.
  5. Comprehensive technical documentation and governance framework for all developed systems.

 

ISO

  • Effective role in implementing, monitoring and controlling all ISO Standards in Genco. Manage and maintain elements of Genco Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001, ISO 37001, ISO 9001) and other management system standards based on roles and functions as and when required to meet the ISO standard requirements in order to achieve Genco’s policies and objectives.
