Education and Knowledge

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields from universities recognised by the Government of Malaysia (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) / Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)
2. Strong knowledge of data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and distributed computing. 
3. Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data ecosystems. 
4. Proficiency in database technologies including SQL, NoSQL, and data lake environments. 
5. Understanding of IT/OT integration, energy systems, and industrial data standards. 
6. Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer, or Google Cloud Data Engineer.
7. Certification in data management (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK). 
8. DevOps-related certifications (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) preferred.
9. TOGAF or enterprise architecture certification beneficial.
10. Information security certifications (e.g., ISO27001) desirable.

Experience Requirements

1. At least 8 years of data engineering or platform management experience, with 3+ years in leadership roles. 
2. Proven record of delivering large-scale enterprise data platforms. 
3. Hands-on experience with modern data pipelines, streaming platforms, and orchestration frameworks. 
4. Background in utilities, manufacturing, or heavy industry data systems preferred. 
5. Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing vendor relationships. 
6. Detail-oriented and execution-focused, ensuring data platforms meet strict operational reliability standards. 
7. Strong communicator, capable of aligning technical and non-technical stakeholders.
8. Collaborative leader fostering knowledge-sharing and innovation within the team.
9. Adaptable, resilient under pressure, and capable of managing shifting priorities.
10. Strategic thinker who can balance long-term platform vision with immediate business needs.

Accountability & Responsibility

General

• Manage the overall AI/ML data platform operations, ensuring scalability, high availability, and compliance with internal policies and industry standards for enterprise-grade solutions. 
• Lead cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines supporting AI and digital twin initiatives across multiple power generation assets. 
• Collaborate closely with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and analytics sections to guarantee secure, efficient, and reliable delivery of enterprise data services powering critical AI applications. 
• Ensure seamless integration of various data sources including OT, IT, IoT, and external datasets into unified platforms for AI consumption. 
• Develop and enforce platform policies, operational standards, and governance practices to ensure data integrity, quality, and resilience across the organization. 

 AI Data Platform

• Oversee development of enterprise AI platforms, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and secure architecture aligned with company-wide AI deployment objectives. 
• Ensure continuous improvement of data ingestion, transformation, and storage systems, supporting AI/ML pipelines and real-time decision-making capabilities. 
• Collaborate with AI Data Engineers and AI DevOps Engineers to deliver end-to-end AI infrastructure that meets operational and business needs. 
• Drive adoption of modern cloud and hybrid architectures, containerized platforms, and MLOps practices to streamline deployment of AI solutions. 
• Evaluate emerging AI infrastructure technologies, recommending adoption paths that enhance system performance and reduce operational costs. 

End Product

• A fully functional, secure, and scalable AI data platform supporting all enterprise AI and digital twin initiatives.
• Documented data governance policies ensuring compliance, accuracy, and integrity across all data environments.
• High-performance pipelines integrating IT, OT, and IoT data into a consistent AI-ready environment.
• Comprehensive monitoring and reporting systems ensuring real-time visibility and proactive management of data flows.
• End-to-end support frameworks ensuring sustainable and reliable platform operation.

ISO 

• Effective role in implementing, monitoring and controlling all ISO Standards in Genco. Manage and maintain elements of Genco Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001, ISO 37001, ISO 9001) and other management system standards based on roles and functions as and when required to meet the ISO standard requirements in order to achieve Genco’s policies and objective
