Education and Knowledge

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or Engineering from universities recognised by the Government of Malaysia (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) / Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)
2. Strong knowledge of AI/ML development methodologies, frameworks, and libraries. 
3. Understanding of plant operations and industrial engineering processes. 
4. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or C++. 
5. Familiarity with simulation, modeling, and visualization tools. 
6. AI/ML certifications from recognized vendors (AWS, Microsoft, Google).
7. DevOps/CI/CD certifications preferred.
8. PMP or Agile project management certifications beneficial.
9. Industry-specific certifications in energy or utilities advantageous.
10. Cybersecurity training for AI applications desirable

Experience Requirements

1. At least 8 years of data engineering or platform management experience, with 3+ years in leadership roles. 
2. Proven record of delivering large-scale enterprise data platforms. 
3. Hands-on experience with modern data pipelines, streaming platforms, and orchestration frameworks. 
4. Background in utilities, manufacturing, or heavy industry data systems preferred. 
5. Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing vendor relationships. 
6. Minimum 8 years in AI/ML development or solution delivery. 
7. Proven track record of leading AI projects in industrial contexts.
8. Experience building digital twin solutions.
9. Strong project management and stakeholder collaboration experience.
10. Background in deploying AI applications at scale.

Accountability & Responsibility

General

1. Manage AI application development lifecycle from concept to deployment, ensuring solutions meet operational, technical, and strategic requirements. 
2. Lead project teams in designing, testing, and implementing AI and digital twin applications across coal, gas, and renewable assets. 
3. Collaborate with plant engineers, operations teams, and IT/OT specialists to align AI applications with operational realities and constraints. 
4. Ensure proper documentation, testing, and validation of AI applications to guarantee reliability and adoption across the enterprise. 
5. Provide leadership and mentorship to AI DevOps Engineers and Application Engineers, fostering technical growth and execution excellence. 

AI Application

1. Design, develop, and deploy AI applications for predictive maintenance, asset optimization, and plant performance improvements. 
2. Oversee digital twin initiatives, ensuring accurate modeling, simulation, and integration with real-time data. 
3. Collaborate with data teams to ensure AI applications are supported by robust, high-quality datasets. 
4. Ensure CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices are applied for reliable application deployment. 
5. Evaluate AI use cases and prioritize projects based on business impact, feasibility, and alignment with corporate strategy. 

Key Deliverable

1. Operational AI applications implemented with measurable improvements in efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction.
2. Digital twin solutions deployed to provide real-time insights into plant performance and predictive scenarios.
3. Comprehensive documentation and user training developed and delivered to support effective adoption of AI applications.
4. Scalable and maintainable AI frameworks and architectures established to ensure long-term sustainability and integration readiness.
5. Continuous improvement and ROI reports produced regularly to track performance impact and demonstrate business value.

ISO

1. Effective role in implementing, monitoring and controlling all ISO Standards in Genco. Manage and maintain elements of Genco Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001, ISO 37001, ISO 9001) and other management system standards based on roles and functions as and when required to meet the ISO standard requirements in order to achieve Genco’s policies and objectives.
