Education and Knowledge

1.    Minimum a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or Law.
2.    Masters in Business Administration with a specialization in Risk Management or Insurance, would be an advantage.
3.    Basic knowledge in plant operation and maintenance as well as plant project management.
4.    Deep understanding of various insurance products, policy forms, coverage options, and underwriting guidelines.
5.    Thorough knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices (local and international, if applicable).
6.    Familiarity with reinsurance concepts is beneficial.
7.    Understanding the principles of risk assessment, pricing, and policy issuance is crucial for evaluating insurance proposals and making informed decisions.
8.    Ability to analyze complex information, assess risks, and make sound, data-driven underwriting decisions.
9.    Proficiency in analyzing financial statements, market trends, and cost structures.
10.    In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, vendor evaluation, contract management, and negotiation strategies.
11.    Proficient in using underwriting software, data analytics tools, and other relevant industry-specific technologies.

Experience Requirements

1.    Minimum three (3) years of working experience in commercial insurance for power generation industry or related fields.
2.    Prior experience in commercial insurance underwriting for an insurance company, a brokerage firm, or a risk management consultancy is highly desirable.
3.    Extensive experience in reviewing insurance applications, assessing risks (financial history, credit scores, claims histories, location, occupation, industry trends), determining appropriate coverage and premiums, conducting policy audits, and making informed decisions on approvals or denials.
4.    Experience dealing with insurance optimization strategies, such as negotiating favorable terms, implementing risk management programs, or optimizing the insurance portfolio, is an advantage.
5.    Experience handling sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, strategic sourcing, and cost management.
6.    Experience managing and growing profitable portfolios.
7.    Prior experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers.
8.    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the power generation industry.
9.    Ability to analyze financial data to assess the financial implications of different insurance options is valuable.

Accountability & Responsibility

Procurement Insurance
    Facilitate procurement of operational and project insurance.
    Effectively manage insurance broker agreement.
    Tracking and review compliance with all insurance policies and related documentation.
    Develop, maintain and review procurement of insurance guideline/procedure for GENCO  
    Conduct basic research and info gathering on insurance markets and industry benchmarks to support internal analysis and identify potential market opportunities.
    Support the development and implementation of strategies to optimize premium and coverage of insurance.
Underwriting Management
    Assist in assessing insurance coverage, pricing, and conditions for routine to moderate risks, ensuring alignment with TNB Genco’s objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements
    Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation, underwriting acceptance levels, systems and underwriting guidelines.
    Provide administrative/coordination support in negotiating pricing, policy terms, coverages and deal structure so that coverage terms align with TNB Genco directives.
    Support the use of pricing and modeling tools to ensure accurate reflection of pricing based on exposure and risk quality.
    Deliver TNB Genco’s objective, business origination and enhance relationship building with insurance brokers/insurers/reinsurers. 
Communication & Stakeholder Management
    Assist in collaborating with insurance industry groups and organizations to align with business objectives.
    Support the creation of communication and deliver messaging to inform and support businesses’ goals.
    Address escalated issues effectively, manage expectations, mitigate relationship risks, and escalate major concerns to senior colleagues as needed.
    Provide support for complex or high-priority relationships when needed to ensure relationship satisfaction and facilitate mutual internal and external understanding
    Ensure communication mechanism is in place for feeding back to insurance brokers/insurers/reinsurers interest areas. 
    Support and assist the collaboration and benchmarking with local and international power plants to identify and understand risk exposures
Market Engagement 
    Collaborate closely with relevant departments in ensuring the effective delivery of stakeholder engagement strategies/programs. 
    Assist in managing to enhance value for insurance brokers, insurers, and reinsurers.
    Attend and participate in industry events and conferences to build strong professional networks, maintain proximity to relevant markets and represent TNB Genco. 
Support Function
•    Ensuring Department / Unit activities comply with all relevant laws and statutory requirements, internal guidelines or procedures and industry best practices by staying up to date on legal requirements and implementing necessary control measures.
•    Maintain and review periodically elements of TNB GenCo Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001, ISO 27001, ISO 9001) and other management system standards based on roles and functions as and when required to meet the ISO standard requirements to achieve TNB Genco’s policies and objectives.
