REQUIREMENT ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Malaysian citizenship
  • Minimum seven (7) years of working experience with preference at least three (3) years in construction project.
  • Prior experience in any project site supervision is advantageous.
  • Ability to supervise contractor works at site and working together with Owner’s Engineer.
  • A strong technical and engineering background particularly in Mechanical works as well as familiar the entire project life cycle activities including installation, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is essential.
  • Experienced in managing multiple cross-functional projects with a focus on adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with passes in at least six (6) subjects, including a credit in Bahasa Malaysia and passes in the following subjects
  • ✓ English
  • ✓ Mathematics
  • OR Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Vokasional (SPMV), subject to the following requirements:
  • ✓ Credit in Bahasa Malaysia with a minimum Grade C.
  • ✓ Minimum Academic Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00.
  • ✓ Minimum Vocational Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.67.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a local Polytechnic or a university recognised by the Government of Malaysia and accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
  • Basic understanding of project management methodologies and risk management for planning, executing, and controlling large-scale asset development projects.
  • Basic understanding in Mechanical works such as installation, testing and commissioning activities for Mechanical equipment / apparatus / systems.
  • Familiar with power plant design and engineering with relevant standards for Mechanical works specifically in hydro plant.
  • Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, standards, guidelines and permitting processes related to power plant construction and operation.
  • Demonstrates expertise in hydro project lifecycle management, encompassing all phases from planning and execution to successful closure.
  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of power plant technologies, operation, and maintenance (O&M) requirements, and relevant industry regulations and best practices.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.

APPLICATION

Accountability & Responsibility

Project Oversight:
 Successful candidate will be seconded to the Owner's Engineer team upon project initiation to provide technical expertise and support.
 Conduct comprehensive inspections and supervise all construction activities as per the approved plan and any instructions given by the superior, with a particular focus on Mechanical works.
 Support Project Team Members on handling contingencies that arise during execution.
 Participate daily / monthly progress meeting to track project progress related to Mechanical works.
 Communicate effectively with project key stakeholders. Maintain positive working relationships.
Project Controlling
 Assist the superior in ensuring smooth implementation of Mechanical works in accordance with the project scope, manage changes, variances and contingencies that arise during the execution.
 Implement approved risk mitigation actions related to Mechanical works. Provide feedback for continual improvement.
 Assist the superior in reviewing the identification of hazards, assessing risks and opportunities, and developing appropriate control measures as documented in the HIRADC register.
 Monitor construction site safety and ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and procedures. Report any significant events, including serious deficiencies in health or safety performance, observed throughout the project.
Quality Assurance and Control: 
 Inspect materials, workmanship, and installation methods to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and relevant regulations and standards. 
 Monitor work progress versus approved work program and identify potential safety hazards.
 Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, including photographs, and other relevant documentation.
 Prepare and submit timely periodic reports to the superior or interested parties.
 Perform all inspections, witnesses, and test activities for Mechanical works according to the Quality Management System (QMS) in meeting the agreed quality standards and performances.
 Identify and address any non-conformances or defects in a timely and effective manner. 
 Provide advice to the superior on the issuing stop work orders when necessary to address safety concerns or non-compliance with regulations or project specifications.
 Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance and quality control processes to consistently deliver high-quality project deliverables.
Project Warranty & Closure
 Assist in conducting comprehensive pre-handover inspections related to Mechanical works to identify and registered all defects. Close registered defects within warranty or contractual period.
 Conduct routine inspections throughout the warranty period to identify and record new defects. Ensure all defects are rectified before issuing any completion certificates.
Support Function
 Provide fully support to OSHMS and EMS. Ensure strict adherence to all internal HSE policies, guidelines, and procedures. Create and maintain a safe and conducive work environment. Promptly report any unsafe acts or conditions through the HSE wallet.
 Demonstrates full commitment to HSE principles, fostering a safe and conducive work environment, and ensuring strict adherence to all HSE procedures and internal guidelines.
 Maintain elements of Genco Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001, ISO 27001, ISO 9001) and other management system standards based on roles and functions as and when required to achieve Genco’s policies and objectives.
